Msgr. Richard J. Shirley–who started the ministry that became Catholic Charities in 1965 when he passed out bologna sandwiches and apples to the homeless from the Corpus Christi Cathedral–will be the honorary chairman for the Catholic Charities of Corpus Christi 50th anniversary celebration on Thursday, Sept. 10, from 6–8 p.m., at 1322 Comanche Street. The event will feature the dedication of a Memorial Rose Garden and a special blessing by Bishop Michael Mulvey.
Lauren and Dave Moore will provide entertainment at the event. From founding and touring with "The Glory Estate" band to serving as music minister at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Dave Moore and his wife Lauren, also a music minister and teacher, sing original and popular Christian tunes.
Tickets for the event are available at the door for $50–that is $1 for every year that Catholic Charities has been breaking barriers, feeding the hungry, caring for the disabled and unfortunate, and improving lives in the Coastal Bend. All proceeds benefit Catholic Charities of Corpus Christi and the Mother Teresa Shelter.
Hors d'oeuvres and wine will be served and complimentary valet parking will be available.
