Catholic Marriage and Annulments
Divorce and Marriage

Can I come back if I am divorced? Yes, you can definitely come home to the Catholic Church and participate fully in the life of the parish community, including receiving communion. Divorce alone does not exclude anyone from the sacraments.

For those who are married or remarried outside the Church or living together, each situation is unique. You can begin the process of healing your relationship with God and the Church. The easiest way to find out more is to contact your local parish and speak to the person who handles marriage annulments.

You can also learn more at: www.DioceseCC.org/Tribunal. The Church is very eager to help and welcome you home with the love of Christ.

If you have more questions about Catholic Marriage and Annulments, please contact Msgr. Tom Feeney, JCL at tfeeney@diocesecc.org or Fr. Joseph Lopez, JCL at jlopez@diocesecc.org

Questions About the Bible and the Teachings of the Church
Church Teachings

In his preaching and teaching ministry, Jesus showed the way to freedom and happiness in God's love. The teachings of the Catholic Church guide us to follow Christ so we may grow in holiness and one day be united with God forever in heaven.

In its teaching ministry, the Church prayerfully studies and hands on the fundamental truths of faith, as expressed in Scripture and Tradition.

If you have questions about church teaching, we invite you to give us a call to talk with a priest or other knowledgeable person or visit www.CatholicsComeHome.org

Same Sex Attraction
Homosexuality and Hope

Few moral and ethical issues over the past forty years have proven to be more complex than how to understand and treat persons experiencing same-sex attraction. Throughout these times, the mission of the Catholic Church has remained the same - to bear witness to the truth and to bring people into a relationship with God. There is no conflict between the Church's teachings on marriage, the family, and homosexuality and sound scientific research on these subjects because both faith and science illuminate the truth about the human person. Thus the Church has continued to uphold its consistent moral evaluation of homosexual acts and, at the same time, has continued to develop her pastoral approach to persons experiencing same-sex attraction.

If you have more questions about Same Sex Attraction, please contact Fr. Pedro Elizardo at pelizardo@diocesecc.org

Sexual Abuse
The Lord Jesus calls each of us to protect His children. It is the commitment of the Church that all children and youth are protected from the tragedy of child abuse. We acknowledge and support parents as the first and best teachers of their children and in order to assist you, we provide vital information and instruction. All parents are in our prayers as they assume the awesome task of the formation and education of children.

The Church is made up of imperfect people on a journey to the fullness of life in Christ. If you have been hurt by a church leader or member in any way, we ask your forgiveness. We believe that you can find healing through the Sacraments and through the compassionate support of our faith community; As well as direct counseling, referral and support by calling the Catholic Charities Counseling Department at 361-884-0651.

The 3 R’s of Child Abuse Prevention

Children and youth from 4 years old through 18 years old should be taught to:
  • Recognize what actions or behaviors of others could be abusive
  • Resist the person aggressively and immediately
  • Report the incident to a trusted adult, and keep telling until they are believed

If you have more questions about Sexual Abuse, please contact Kristi Skrobarczyk at kskrobarczyk@diocesecc.org
